Live attenuated vaccines
Live attenuated vaccines are antigenic substances composed of a viable (living) pathogen, such as a virus or bacterium. The pathogen is altered so that it is less virulent or avirulent (attenuated). When administered, they elicit protective immunity against the pathogen.
