Article processing charges

Nature Communications is an open access journal. To publish in Nature Communications, authors are required to pay an article processing charge (APC).

The APC for all published papers is as follows, plus VAT or local taxes where applicable:

£3,920 (UK)
$5,560 (The Americas*, Greater China** and Japan)
€4,530 (Europe and rest of world)

APC waiver policy

Nature Communications offers APC waivers for papers whose corresponding authors are based in the world's lowest income countries as defined by the World Bank. Discretionary APC waivers for authors will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and may be granted in cases of financial need. All applications for discretionary APC waivers should be made at the point of manuscript submission; requests made during the review process or after acceptance will not be considered.
